General guidance from RER/MER formulas — not a substitute for your vet. Split into 2 meals; adjust to keep a healthy body condition.
We use the standard veterinary formula: RER = 70 × (weight in kg)^0.75, then multiply by a factor for life stage and activity to get daily calories (MER). Dividing by your food's calorie density gives the grams per day. A “cup” is estimated at ~120 g of dry food.
Weigh food with a kitchen scale for accuracy, feed 2 meals a day, and re-check monthly — the right amount is whatever keeps ribs easily felt but not seen.
